Acting Minister for Defence, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has announced that the board established to investigate the recent Z-9 military helicopter crash has begun its work.

In a press release issued in Accra on August 25, 2025, Dr. Forson said the Board is chaired by the National Security Coordinator, with members drawn from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.

The Board has been directed to complete its work within 30 days.

He explained that the United States of America is providing advice and technical assistance through investigators from the U.S. Air Force.


He added that the Board may also call on other experts and institutions, both local and international, to support the inquiry.

The crash occurred on August 6, 2025. On the day of the incident, a preliminary investigation team was put together to collect available evidence for the Board.

That team is expected to present its report today.

According to Dr. Forson, the inquiry will establish the facts surrounding the crash and recommend measures to prevent future incidents.
